Bidding farewell to ski equipment on arrival (that’s seen again later in the property’s exclusive ski lodge at the bottom of the lifts), it’s clear these apartments – decked out in mellow alpine block-check throws and sustainably sourced timber – aren’t like anywhere else in Courchevel. Not quite a hotel, but far from a chalet, the Six Senses Residences are ones for like-minded fellows and families who share the same ideals of independence. Where the foodie friend can be let loose in a state-of-the-art kitchen and the temperamental teen doesn’t have to suffer the frills of formality. But don’t let the self-catering-concern set in, because it wouldn’t live up to the brand name if their reputable hospitality was unseen. There’s still daily housekeeping, a 24/7 concierge, and (when that foodie friend has burnt one dish too many) a private chef and butlers on hand for those annual catchup soirees in the lounge-turned-social-space.
Although there’s a shuttle service to La Croisette, we’re not kidding when we say it’s possible to practically roll out of bed and reach the slopes and shops in minutes. So, if a change from the on-site restaurant – renowned Japanese joint Sumosan – is required (doubtful but we like options), there’s not far to wander for a sharing fondue frenzy or après-ski antics.
