Kaplankaya / Six Senses Kaplankaya

Set on a secluded stretch of coast on the Turkish Riviera north of Bodrum, Six Senses Kaplankaya’s seamless blend between its natural surroundings and contemporary design makes it the epitome of respite. Having opened in May 2018, rooms, suites and villas are carved into the rock face, and cascade down towards the coastline – some with large terraces and private pools; all with views of the Aegean Sea.

If you’re in pursuit of a healthier and happier you, the wellness wonder brand’s health and healing programmes are the main draw. A team of reputed experts are on-hand to offer a personalised approach, which merges high-tech science and high-touch therapies. Along with the help of the huge world renowned Six Senses Spa; complete with watsu pool, Finnish sauna and crystal steam room.

Dining arrives in the form of six exceptional restaurant and bar options, which showcase the hotel’s sustainability and community support efforts via their Earth Lab. Inspired by the Turkish culture, chefs harvest ingredients from the resort’s own organic garden and use locally sourced produce to create a responsible and ever changing dining experience – from The Alchemy Bar with its intimate Chef’s Table for just 14 guests, to Mezze by the Sea with a daily selection of freshly caught fish.

Helicopter and speedboat transfers, three private beaches, guided market tours with the chef and weekly popup bazaars by local artisans are just a few of the other perks here.

With the architecture, history and art of the local ancient cities of Didim and Bodrum a short distance away, experience the relics of two of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World with ease, arriving via helicopter for that added touch of luxury.

When to visit Turkey

Turkey is a vast country that incorporates both a Mediterranean and continental climate, the temperatures in the north being cooler than the south. For sightseeing and visits to Istanbul, spring and autumn are recommended to avoid the peak summer temperatures. November to February can be cool with increased rainfall. Southern Turkey has a Mediterranean climate with hot dry summers and mild winters, July and August being the hottest months. Spring and autumn are good times to visit as it is still warm and less crowded.
