Halkidiki / Eagles Palace

Tucked away by a golden sand beach on an unspoilt peninsula close to UNESCO World Heritage site Mount Athos (the men-only monastic state constructed in the 10th Century, of which Prince Charles is a repeat visitor).

This resort’s tranquillity is enhanced by its monastic architecture and features rooms with views over the gardens or ocean, whilst luxury suites offer direct access to the beach - considered to be one of the best in Greece - where the sand gently shelves into the sea and the water is remarkably clear. Nestled in the gardens or along the seafront, delightful bungalows provide simple but chic accommodation.

Varied dining options include gourmet fare at Kamares, fresh fish by the sea at Armyra and tapas style international cuisine served at Vinum Restaurant. Live music at the Eagles Club is accompanied by gourmet finger food, cocktails and glorious sunset views. There is also an exceptional children’s club and aquatic fun aplenty including river rafting, sea kayaking and a PADI diving centre. Bring your boots for a trek to Ouranoupolis or book yourself into the spa for a relaxing Elemis treatment.

Unique monastic state

A unique location, tucked away by a golden sand beach on a peninsula close to Mount Athos, this resort exudes a special tranquillity. Mount Athos itself is home to the oldest surviving monastic community in the world, containing 20 autonomous monasteries. Monks live a life of complete seclusion - the isolation so treasured visitors are strictly limited with only males granted permits. Take a boat around the peninsula with a local guide who can point out the differences between the religious communities and explain the rich history.
